At first, I don't want to make review of this book. Because this is a photograph book, the book which have more pictures than words. What can I tell about the story, rather than praise for the beautiful of Stanton's photographs. And his photos are really beautiful.
But just because this book is filled with so many interesting picture, it does not mean it cannot tell a story. There is an old quote which said, "Good picture is not about the quality of the image such as color, photo's technique, etc but good picture tell the story about what happened in the picture." (Well I guess, this is mean, selfie is not good picture, because it's only about narcissism #sorry).
Also, I like New York (whether as state or city). Since I was a little girl, I already watch so many movies with NY as the setting or background. If there is question about top 5 cities in the world I would like to go, I definitely will choose NY as one of them. (If you wondering, the others four are London, Kyoto, Prague and Munich).
New York always fascinate me. NY is big city, busy and crowded. But beside all those noisy, you still can find a quiet, calm place such as park. But what more interesting about NY are the people. Like any big city in the world, NY is multicultural city. You can find person from any different race and ethnicity in New York. Not only that, this book show that humans of New York or New Yorker are expressive people. They are confident with their identity and emphasize it with their style, action and anything.
While New York seems expensive and glamour, Stanton also take pictures of homeless people and those who less fortunate. And that what I like about this book, very colorful, show many different side of human despite their race, job, age & status.

The book itself put so much project about human. Some photo have no text at all, some only explain with one liner and some photo have more words about 1 or 2 paragraph. Stanton make us believe observe human are interesting. Reading this book it like following a city tour in New York and you meet with many types of New Yorker.
Now, I want to activated again my tumblr blog. By the way, I gave Mr Stanton 4 champagnes for his photograph book, simply because I enjoy it and like it.
Suggestion: Read this book while listening New York New York by Frank Sinatra.
